Midnight Cowboy Part II

Joe Buck finally finds a way to unify his Texan cowboy mentality and still hold a normal job. He commentates with a former Cowboy from Dallas, Troy Aikman, on NFL football games for FOX Sports. To provide additional cash to cover Rizzo's funeral, he commentates on baseball games with Tim McCarver.

  1. Hahahahahaha. I'm so happy that I wasn't the only person who caught the fact that Joe Buck is the name of the announcer on FOX. I kept saying it to people and they didn't get the joke. I feel better now.

  2. Yea, I got it from the very beginning. I was wondering why Joe Buck's parents (real life) would name him that especially since Joe Buck (real life) was born on April 25th 1969. The movie was released, a month later in NYC at a film festival on May 25th 1969. I guess the parents did not realize the significance of naming their child that at that point. However, throughout the movie, I kept thinking about the sportscaster. I am glad you brought it up.(Nick if you would have said it to me, I would have understood it.)

  3. Heheh Danny, Nick, and Jimmy I thought the same as well. The guy does not know much about sports but it is very ironic he is sharing the same name. More often then not I was expecting him to say, "I'm Joe Buck and joining me here is Tim McCarver on Fox Baseball." Very funny post Danny

  4. There is a scene in the movie theatre, where Joe is sleeping and the cop wakes him up. On the movie screeen is a newsreel. It shows the half-time show at the Rose Bowl. Clearly, the diretor was making a symbolic reference to Joe Buck. He is predicting the future.

I told you idiots that this is a great film.

  6. Hmmm, maybe that's why at first I hated Joe Buck, because subconsciously I thought of the announcer Joe Buck who always hates on the Yankees just like all the bastards at Fox.
