What I'm doin'

Instead of wasting my time posing for a picture with Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck for the seventh time, on this Friday the thirteenth I depart for Crown Point, New York. On the way I can see a shadow or two on the Hudson, and stop at Fort William Henry and Fort Ticonderoga. After Crown Point I will hike to St. Francis on Lake St. Peter in Canada and return via Lake Memphremagog. Then I will fly to Fort Michilimackinac in Michigan and search in vain for the Northwest Passage to the Pacific. Pontiac says it exists but I trust Sir William Johnson with my life.

  1. What a trip. I want to come along. I've gotten so fat lately, I could stand to march for a month, barefoot through a spruce bog whilst eating nothing but a few handfuls of corn and the occasional moose or partridge. That would slim me down. Of course, if I got really hungry, I could ask Bradley for a nibble of that Indian head he's carrying. And that Jenny is a hot little squaw. Too bad she's stuck on that clown with the hole in his side. Well, he won't last long. Then I'll move in on that little number.

On a slightly more serious note, I've been to Michilimackinac, in high summer. It is delightful, at the confluence of three Great Lakes. Saw the cell that held Rogers after his arrest. Oh. Don't trust Sir William.
